Armenia and UNICEF Launch New Five-Year Cooperation Programme

Armenian Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan received the newly appointed UNICEF representative in Armenia, Ghassan Khalil.

During the meeting, the sides discussed ongoing and planned programmes in the areas of children’s health and well-being, their development and protection, as well as health support for families.

“Ensuring children’s health and well-being is one of the most important priorities of our policy. The long-standing and effective cooperation with UNICEF gives us the opportunity to jointly advance important initiatives in this direction and ensure their lasting outcome. I am confident that the new programme will create a solid foundation for the further expansion of our joint work and the implementation of the set goals,” Anahit Avanesyan noted.

The sides stressed the continuity of the cooperation and coordinated work, with the aim of turning the priorities envisaged by the programme into practical results and ensuring a healthy, safe and developing environment for every child.

Armenia and UNICEF have launched the new five-year cooperation programme, within the framework of which four main priorities have been identified: promoting children’s health and development, ensuring access to quality education, strengthening the child protection system, as well as strengthening the social protection and resilience of children and families.
