Iran Satisfied with Transparency of TRIPP Process and Economic Opportunities

According to RA Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Ararat Mirzoyan, Iran is satisfied with the transparency shown by Armenia around TRIPP, with the readiness to discuss issues and with the economic opportunities of the project. Mirzoyan said this during question and answer with the government in the National Assembly, answering the question of MP Aruseak Manavazyan about the visit to Iran and the Iranian side’s perceptions regarding TRIPP.

“In Iran they are satisfied with the whole process around TRIPP, with the full transparency shown by our side, with the readiness to discuss all issues, as well as with the economic opportunities that the operation of those same infrastructures will offer Iran,” Mirzoyan said.

The minister stressed that this assessment is based on the impressions he received and what he heard during his visit. According to him, the commotion around TRIPP presented by some media outlets and opposition circles does not correspond to reality.

Mirzoyan noted that during the discussions around the project with the Iranian partners questions were raised and answers were given, and the work in that direction continues.

Turning to the overall agenda of the visit, the minister informed that with the leadership and partners of Iran he discussed the whole scope of bilateral relations, from political dialogue and the strategic nature of relations to economic and infrastructure issues. International and regional developments were also discussed.

Answering the question on cargo transportation and air transportation, Mirzoyan underlined Armenia’s readiness to deepen relations with Iran, taking into account the restrictions обусловленные by international sanctions.

“We value very highly and consider important our relations with Iran, and we will not put them at risk,” the minister noted.

He also said that the issue of blockages and accumulations related to cargo transportation in the customs zone of the Iranian side is being closely discussed with the relevant agencies. According to Mirzoyan, there are technical solutions whose implementation he expects to see in the coming days.
