Houthis Attack Saudi Arabian Airports

Three people were killed and dozens wounded as a result of the attacks carried out against Saudi Arabian airports.

The incidents took place in light of a sharp escalation of fighting in Yemen between the Iran-backed Houthis and the Saudi-backed government forces.

As a result of the attack on the capital Riyadh’s “King Khalid” international airport, 1 person was killed and 8 people were wounded, while as a result of the targeted infrastructure at Abha airport there are 2 dead and 28 wounded.

In response, the Saudi-led military alliance has announced large-scale operations, stressing that “the attacks will not go unpunished”. The alliance’s forces have already carried out more than 80 strikes on Houthi military bases in Saada, Hodeidah, Jawf and Marib provinces.

The Houthis also struck Aden international airport with ballistic missiles and drones. One of the missiles fell near the runway, seconds before the landing of an aircraft arriving from Cairo.

In recent days the Bab el-Mandeb Strait has become the main focus of the military clashes. It has acquired pivotal importance for the transport of global energetic carriers, since trade through the Strait of Hormuz has been severely restricted because of the US-Iran conflict.
