Preferential Regime for Armenian Goods Exported to the EU to Enter Into Force on October 10

The EU regulation on the application of autonomous trade measures with respect to Armenian goods was published on October 9 in the EU official journal and will enter into force on October 10.

This was announced by Ani Badalyan, spokesperson for the RA Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.

Under this EU regulation about 80% of Armenia’s exports to EU territory will be liberalized, suspending import customs duties on a wide range of goods, including certain agricultural goods. After entering into force the preferential regime will operate for a period of 2 years.

With the adoption of the said regulation Armenia becomes the only country which, without having EU candidate status or a “Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade” agreement concluded with the EU, receives such an economic privilege.
