Trump: It Is Time for Ukraine to Have a New President

United States President Donald Trump has said that it is time to elect a new president of Ukraine. He said so in response to a question from journalists near the White House about what he would say concerning the aid provided to Ukraine and the people who suffer every day from missile strikes and hunger.

Trump said, “I suggest they find a new leader who will be able to make a deal, because Zelensky could have made many deals, but for some reason never did. If I had been president, this war would never have happened. You would not already have lost 30% of your country. You have lost 30% of your country, and more than 1 million people have died on both sides, more than 2 million people have died. This is a war that should never have started. I think it is time for Ukraine to have a new president.”

Earlier Trump had demanded that Zelensky stop the strikes on Russian oil refineries.

“Zelensky could have settled this war many times, but decided not to do so. We said, do with Russia whatever you wish, only do not strike the oil refineries, because that is a global problem. And he wants to create problems for the world, because Russia supplies a significant part of diesel fuel to the whole world. And what does he do? He goes and strikes diesel fuel.”

The day before, Volodymyr Zelensky had criticized the agreement Trump had reached with Russia over the supply of Russian diesel fuel. According to Zelensky, Kyiv is ready to stop the strikes on Russian oil refineries if Russia stops destroying Ukrainian energy.
