Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that he does not want a confrontation with Turkey, but, in his words, it is Turkey that seeks it. According to Netanyahu, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declares that Israel must be destroyed, and that Jerusalem belongs to Turkey.
The Israeli prime minister noted that Erdogan thinks he can restore the Ottoman Empire, but, in Netanyahu’s words, he forgets that Israel and the Jewish people are bound to this territory by more than 3,000 years of history.
“We are not in the 16th century, when the Ottomans seized this territory and ruled here for 400 years. There is a force here. It is the Jewish state on Jewish soil,” Netanyahu said.
