European Union Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos has said that Armenian citizens have come one step closer to the possibility of travelling to the European Union without a visa.
Marta Kos wrote about this on her Facebook page.
“Armenians are one step closer to visa-free travel to the European Union. With the support of the European Union, Armenian citizens can receive new biometric passports, which will help speed up border checks and facilitate travel. Armenia is choosing the path of closer ties with Europe, and we are bringing that choice to life for the benefit of Armenia’s citizens,” Kos wrote.
The system for issuing biometric passports has been in operation in Armenia since November 1. The introduction of the biometric system is one of the important components of the liberalization of European Union visas for Armenian citizens. Armenia is currently the only country in dialogue with the European Union on visa liberalization.
