Unidentified DNA profiles have been exchanged within the framework of cooperation between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which before the exchange were compared with the profiles available to the Armenian side, and no matches were found.
This was reported by the National Security Service.
According to the agency, the process took place in January 2026.
On October 7 at the 4th international conference on missing persons, the head of Azerbaijan’s state security service, chairman of the state commission on prisoners of war, hostages and missing citizens Ali Naghiyev had stated that Azerbaijan had proposed providing Armenia with DNA samples for the identification of remains found in Nagorno-Karabakh, which presumably belong to Armenian servicemen. According to him, as a result of the examination of remains found in those territories, no match was found with the DNA profiles of 50 persons considered missing by the Armenian side.
Naghiyev noted that Azerbaijan transferred those DNA profiles to Armenia in January 2026.
The RA NSS also reported that DNA profiles of relatives of missing persons have not been transferred to the Azerbaijani side.
