“Hayastan” Alliance to Vote Against Agreement on TRIPP

The opposition “Hayastan” alliance will vote against the agreement on TRIPP, faction head Anna Grigoryan said.

“It is in fact considered a bilateral treaty. The two sides are Armenia and the United States. But within its content there is a third side, in particular Azerbaijan. Moreover, Azerbaijan’s interests are reflected in this document more directly than Armenia’s interest could be. What does one of the sides get. The United States gets direct representation in the region, it will be on the border with Iran, in an important strategic section. Azerbaijan gets a link between Nakhichevan and Azerbaijan, something that has been Azerbaijan’s and Turkey’s dream, a strategic goal, and its implementation is reflected in this document. What does Armenia get. When the political majority tries to answer that question, the first word is unblocking, yet no communication on the ground is unblocked, no border is opened. That is, the first answer is already wrong,” Anna Grigoryan stressed.

The other parliamentary opposition force, “Strong Armenia,” also sharply criticizes the framework agreement on strategic cooperation concerning the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” (TRIPP) project, but that force has not yet clarified how it will vote.
