Armenia should be expelled from the Collective Security Treaty Organization, since the country does not take part in the organization’s work, yet all decisions must be coordinated with it, former CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha has said.
According to Bordyuzha, if Armenia suspends its participation but does not leave the organization, it continues to remain a full member of the CSTO.
“If they are full members of the CSTO, then all decisions adopted in the organization by consensus must be taken with their position also taken into account. But today that position, in essence, contradicts the policy being implemented within the CSTO,” he noted.
In the former CSTO secretary general’s opinion, it would be more correct for Armenia to withdraw from the organization altogether, and if Yerevan does not do so, it should be expelled.
“I would expel them. They do not pay membership fees, they do not participate. If they are serious, they should simply leave. But since their position is dual — they do not want to leave, they do not want to work, they do not participate — they should be expelled,” Bordyuzha said.
Earlier, CSTO Secretary General Taalatbek Masadykov had said that the question of expelling Armenia from the organization could be discussed at the meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council to be held in Moscow on 11 November 2026.
