Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has stated that Ankara supports the ongoing contacts between Armenia and Azerbaijan and will continue to contribute to the establishment of lasting peace in the region.
Erdogan stated this in his address at the summit of the leaders of the Turkic states, touching upon the prospects for peace and regional cooperation in the South Caucasus.
“The South Caucasus, where peace and stability will prevail, will create important opportunities not only for the countries of the region, but also for the entire Turkic world. We support our Azerbaijani brothers in the contacts being carried out with Armenia and reaffirm that we will continue, within the limits of our capabilities, to contribute to the establishment of lasting peace,” Erdogan said.
The Turkish president stressed that regional conflicts benefit no side and have grave consequences for the global economy and for trade and energy markets.
