US President Donald Trump has said that Venezuela could in the future become the 51st state of the United States, pointing to growing cooperation between the two countries in the oil sector.
According to Trump, American investments in Venezuela are creating new jobs on a scale that was difficult to imagine even a year ago. He also noted that growth in oil production could contribute to the country’s prosperity.
The US president repeated his proposal, adding that in the future Venezuela could be led by a governor instead of having a president.
