“You know, it is not possible to be a member of the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union at the same time. And we know, and I have said publicly, that we understand that at some point in the future Armenia will have to make a choice, but until then we must create alternatives, put a real political question to our people.” Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this within the framework of the “EU Enlargement Summit 2026,” in response to Euronews.
“And the citizens of Armenia will decide whether they want to stay in the Eurasian Economic Union or want to join the European Union. That is, we are creating an alternative in order to create an opportunity for our people, so that both people and the public have the opportunity to make a choice. And that is further evidence of what I have said, that democracy is a strategy for us, and we want our people to have the opportunity to make a choice, to make a democratic choice,” the prime minister noted.
