Republican Byron Donalds won Florida’s gubernatorial election, becoming the first Black person elected to that office in the state’s history. He defeated Democrat David Jolly, succeeding the term-limited Ron DeSantis.
In his victory message, Donalds thanked voters and promised to work to fight the rising cost of living, ensure safety on the streets and expand opportunities for young people.
