There is no discussion of removing Armenia from the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
CSTO Secretary General Taalatbek Masadykov said this during a briefing held on the sidelines of the 4th Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security.
Masadykov also reported that the Russian side has already prepared a concrete solution concerning Armenia, which will be proposed to the CSTO member states.
“This year, if the agenda is approved, the issue will be discussed at the meeting of the Collective Security Organization council to be held on November 10.
The issue concerning Armenia is linked to the non-payment of membership fees and to not participating in the CSTO’s work for two years,” Taalatbek Masadykov said.
He elaborated that Article 25 of the CSTO charter may be applied to Armenia, that is, the country may be deprived of nominating its candidates to CSTO posts on a quota basis, as well as of the right to vote until it pays the debt accrued from membership fees.
Armenia has frozen its participation in the CSTO’s work since February 2024.
