Businessman and founder of the Tashir group of companies Samvel Karapetyan has been arrested.
This was reported by Armenia’s Investigative Committee, stressing that public criminal prosecution has been initiated against him and 35 other persons in a case involving causing property damage to the Electric Networks of Armenia on a particularly large scale, embezzlement of entrusted property and money laundering.
According to the Investigative Committee, the total damage caused to the company amounts to more than 64 billion 585 million drams.
Within the framework of the case, law enforcement officers today carried out simultaneous searches at 65 apartments and business addresses of companies.
Samvel Karapetyan is under house arrest within the framework of another criminal proceeding. He has also been charged with making public calls to seize power and overthrow the constitutional order. Karapetyan had also been charged in another case under the article on money laundering.
