Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry has placed 31 Turkish citizens, including parliament member Omer Faruk Gergerlioglu and New Welfare Party chairman Fatih Erbakan, on the list of undesirable persons, barring their entry into the country.
According to the ministry’s clarification, the basis for the decision was statements spread by those persons on social networks and various internet platforms which, according to the Azerbaijani side, are directed against the country’s sovereignty, national security, constitutional order, people and leadership.
According to Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry, it is also about calls for the violent change of power, violence on the grounds of religious radicalism, and incitement of religious hatred and enmity. Included on the list of undesirable persons are representatives of Turkey’s political, public and media circles, including journalists, bloggers, publicists, religious figures and members of political parties.
Among them are also HUDA PAR party vice-chairman Yahya Ugrash, as well as journalists and commentators who cooperate with “Yeni Safak”, “Akit TV”, “TV NET” and other media outlets.
Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry has announced that appropriate measures will also be taken in the future in connection with calls directed against the country and activity inciting enmity.
