Israeli President Has Condemned Attacks Against Jerusalem Armenian Community

Israeli President Isaac Herzog has condemned the attacks against the Armenian community of Jerusalem.

The Armenian National Committee of Jerusalem has issued a statement about this.

“The Armenian National Committee of Jerusalem welcomes the response of Israeli President Isaac Herzog to our letter of August 7, 2026, in which we expressed deep concern regarding the attacks against the Armenian community and called for taking necessary and effective measures to ensure the protection of the members of the community and their institutions.

In his letter of September 16, 2026, President Herzog addressed the seriousness of these incidents and announced his commitment to preventing the repetition of such actions. He also reaffirmed the importance of the Armenian community, which for generations has formed a valuable part of the life of Jerusalem. In a particularly important passage of his letter the president notes.

“I wish to emphasize that I will do everything within the limits of my authority, using all the means at my disposal, to prevent the repetition of such incidents.” I am convinced that these individuals do not represent the true face of Israel, and their actions reflect neither our values nor our dedication to the Armenian community, which is an old and beloved community and for generations has been a good and respected neighbor in Jerusalem, with which the Jewish community of the Old City has close ties.”
